Even the quickest look at the programme for the Information Futures Summit will tell you that it’s going to be an intense experience.

Participants will encounter a diverse set of perspectives across a wide range of topics related to the future of information and knowledge.

They will be challenged to be imaginative—to look at libraries from different viewpoints, including that of future generations. And at the same time, they will be asked to be practical, thinking about how the insights shared can be implemented into practice on the ground, today.

In short, the Summit will be a real mental workout! 🏋️

To help you get ready for this – and if you’ve not yet registered, to help convince you to do so— we’re therefore going to be issuing a series of 10 posts between now and 30 September in order to help you prepare.

Each will touch on one of the key trends to be included in the 2024 Trend Report, and how our discussions in Brisbane will help address these (and the people helping us to do so!), as well as some overall themes on the agenda.

For your first warm-up exercise

Become familiar with the issues in our Trend Report by completing our survey. This asks you to think not only about the individual trends, but also about how they interact.

Which ones are more positive and which more negative for our societies? Do they support each other or cancel each other out? These are complex questions, but ones that help us prepare for a future that cannot be explained by any one trend or issue.

Filling in the survey will not only help you think about the Trends, but also directly help us as we prepare a set of scenarios for the future of information and knowledge, to be launched in Brisbane. You can find out more in our news story.

Your responses are welcome by 28 August!

In the meantime, look out for our next post, focusing on how knowledge practices are changing.
